To get a good look at the unspoiled grasslands in Inner Mongolia you have to drive 9 or so hours from Hohhot. Unable to make this kind of voyage, most tourists opt for the closer grasslands, only 3 or so hours away from the city. At the very least, our small hostel, the Anda Guesthouse, brought us past the large blocks of tourist yurts and into someone's personal home. Our site only had two or three yurts and our host's farmhouse, where we ate delicious home-cooked meals. We walked around the farm and through the grasslands to discover the scenery, and then at night we admired a beautiful sunset.
